Punta Sal

Today, we got up bright and early to take a little trip to Punta Sal National Park for some hiking and snorkeling. Around 7:00 we all met for some breakfast and then at 7:45 "Garifuna Tours," the ones taking us on the outing, picked us up. They took us to a nearby dock where we hopped onto a 16 passenger boat and took an hour long ride across the water to the National Park. In the park, we saw monkeys, crabs, velocaraptors, spiders, and learned about a ton of cool plants. We also made our way to Captain Morgan's cove/ hideout where we took a group pic. After the hike, we did some snorkeling. For those who finished snorkeling early, the guide found some ripe bananas, mangoes, and avocados for us to eat. Afterwards we went over to some small house on the island where some natives made us a delicious meal. It may look kind of gross, but it sure was good! After lunch we had about an hour and a half to kill, so some of us went on a hike through the jungle while others just relaxed on the beach. Finally, around 2:00, we headed back towards our place.

Being in the sun all morning/ afternoon, the day trip was kind of draining....so back at the hotel, we thought we needed to just hang out at the waterbar and drink pina coladas and daiquiris...."sin alcohol." (without alcohol) After gaining back some of our energy we played an intense round of water volleyball followed by some delicious snacks (hamburgers, shrimp ceviche, nachos, some delicious meat salad thing, hot wings, and club sandwiches). We met around 7:30 for our small group time. Sadie and Sarah L. led a small discussion about "love." It first flows from the cross where we see the love of God in dying for our sins. Then it allows us to go into the world and love others. This time also included some music, "give God the glory," and prayer.

We again had a late dinner and then finished the day off by watching HotRod.

I'm actually writing this blog Friday morning and it's raining right now....so we'll see what happens today.
