Garrett's Blog

Today we woke up at 9:00 or so, to a rainy Honduran morning. The extra sleep was great for those of us who wanted some much needed rest after our excursion yesterday. Afterwards we went to breakfast and ate our fill (the whole all-inclusive thing is great!). Then we decided to head into town to experience some more life outside of the resort. We took a taxi into the town center and walked around for awhile, shopping, talking with the locals, and experiencing the town. We were checking out the knock-off sunglasses when we met an eccentric Honduran man named George Flowers. He just started talking to us about his life stories, telling us about how once when he was fishing he actually caught The Little Mermaid (and I don’t mean the movie). He also produced his very own film in Hollywood, and played for the New York Dodgers. After our conversation with the home-run maker we started heading back to the hotel, unfortunately the skies opened up on us during the walk back. But after we had dried off we decided to head to the bar and get some Pina Coladas (sin alcohol of course). We took the rest of the day easy, playing tennis, hanging out in the pool, playing on the big slide, and generally relaxing. A few people went back into town and watched Payton get his hair cut for $2.00 in the “normal” Honduran style.
Later in the day we had worship and Joel and Payton led us in a devotional covering our experiences in God’s sovereignty in his kingdom. After finishing our worship we went to dinner. Finally, later at night we went to a disco that the hotel was holding. We had a great time dancing the night away and were tired enough to fall asleep as soon as we hit the pillow.
Thanks for all your prayers and support! I am actually writing this the next day in the airport waiting for the plane to arrive so we can board for the flight to Guatemala. We cannot wait to get there to start serving the people there. Thanks again for all your support and we look forward to getting home to share all our new stories with you!
